regroup

I dont know what happened, but two events today just threw me off.

Between children getting chocolates that REALLY didnt need them and starting a conversation I never should have to begin with, I left work irritated.

Never and Always are two words that get people in trouble. Just because you believe in your pedagogy, doesnt mean its 100% correct or that it fits every situation or ever child even. And just because you dont agree with someone elses way of thinking (or living), that doesnt make it wrong. Or inferior for that matter.

And the last time I checked, Canada wasnt Heaven. . .or anything close to it. Not that this person believes in Heaven whatsoever. Regardless, that (Canada) being your frame of reference for EVERY topic brought up is SO past old.

I wasnt aware that corporal punishment was an "American" term. Vocabulary builder anyone?

Yes, Im venting.

I need to.

Usually, I overlook these things (or people) but today was just one of those days. Im allowed. I havent had one since Ive been here.

Now back to my liquid state.

  1. Ah, the dreaded "Well, back home we do it THIS way, and it works so much better!" commentary. I've certainly been there and thought that, but after any amount of research/time in country one would realise that the UAE is NOTHING like "back home", and comparisons are a bit silly.

Happy venting, I'm sure you'll be back on track soon!

Moroccanoil Soap

If youve read this blog for any length of time, Im sure youve gotten your laughs off my Moroccan bath experience. As crazy as that was for me, i believe I will be going to get one again, though at a much better establishment! Today, I ran across this product  And while waiting in line for a price, an Arabic lady gave it the once over, looked inside, and nodded her head in approval of what was inside. After seeing it was only 9.50 dhm, I got another. Once I try it, I will certainly give a review! In the meantime, here is information about the product-or products like this: Moroccan Black Soap and How To Use It The black soap is part of the traditional hammam ritual. It is the first treatment in oriental public bath. With a texture of butter, this natural vegetable paste based with black olives is rich in vitamin E. It is obtained from a mixture of oil and crushed olives, soaked in salt and potash. In the nineteenth century it was used as a product of Dermatology and later be

When in Rome

There are some things that, while you are doing them, make you think:"I would never do this in my country". Like the other day when I couldnt take it anymore and went to get water to drink bc its nasty in my apt (and, yes,Ive had the water in other places and it was fine). Anyway, it wasnt late but it was dark. The corner store is literally a minute outside my door. On the way back I walked to see if the internet cafe was open. An older man asked if I was looking for the pharmacy. I wasnt. He motioned and asked me to sit after he asked me where I was from and I told him. He was extremely nice and the first 5 mins consisted of a conversation in my head about how things like this work here. He talked about how proud they are to have us here and that Americans are treated with a different kind of respect. He talked about how nowhere else will you see so many Nationalities in a matter of minutes no matter where you are. He talked about work and leisure and told me about his resta
