Testyyyyyy

I sit here watching HGTV and typing away on my computer. Ive been doing this for days now. Apartment is pretty much empty and the hubby is there getting rid of the last few things before working one last weekend and coming home. People ask if Im excited yet and I dont think that it has hit me quite yet. I mean, I am excited but not like I will be when I get the ticket, or even when I get ready to board the plane, or especially when I finally get on Etihad!!!

My legs are propped over my knee roller, which I got (again) today for the last stretch of this whole cast situation. Its cool and Im thankful to be healing properly and relaxing at home not doing too much of anything. I have awhile before I am forced to condence one last time before the final move. I am not looking forward to that task.

I write before my departure with the next group in mind. I spent months reading about the experience of others and researching any and everything I could about Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Out of everything I read, the experience of others is what helped me to make up my mind. With that said, I dont know what I would be thinking right now if I were to go on TA/FB right now with some of the posts. While I am empathetic about everyone's feelings, I do think SOME people are just plane ol' gripers. Should everyone call them on it? I dont know. I can also say that now that we are down to the last part of this process before we depart, people are starting to show some of what they are made of. I have had my words taken out of context once and I didnt really like how it felt but handled it in stride.

I used to be the type that had the patience of a firecracker and would lose it quickly with others. Im happy to say that is no longer the case and I do think it has been in preparation for a move such as this. I hope that moods even out and that people are able to adapt quickly and smoothly to the culture. I do believe that, as Americans, we tend to be self absorbed. . .that we are taught to be in school. . .and that some cultures here are worse than others in that regard. Yeah, no one is perfect, blah blah blah, lol. I do get disgusted, however, with the behavior and thought process that goes behind that. Just who do you think you are and why do you think someone owes you or that you are entitled?? Well, I know the answer(s) to that.

ANYWAY, that is neither here nor there.

Patience, patience,patience!!!

People are getting "orders" of where they are living and where they will be working. I was a little disappointed after hearing that the email of city we will be living in only went to those already there. Its ok. Im still going with the flow. Hopefully, Ill be updating soon with some information although I know I wont be traveling until after September 16th because THATS when my cast comes off.

In due time. . .in due time

  1. Hi! I found your blog via the TA fb page and just wanted to say hello. Looks like a lot of teacher blogs have kind of stuttered to a halt in the past week, so I'm hoping your almost ready to go! Enjoy this last week in the US.

Looking forward to reading more about living and working in the UAE, as I hope to take part in such an adventure in January.

should I? shouldnt I? THAT is the question... horror stories, complaints, regrets in opposition with people who speak as if they have no plans on returning to the previous dwelling place. What to believe? Are the kids hellians or little angels? Is the classroom fully stocked or bare? Will you have admin support, admin indifference,or admin from Hades? Sadly, noone can answer this question and not because of "a lack of freedom of speech". Its because everything-in every country-is subjective. And because if one is going to pack up and live in another country for a couple years, this would be one of the more difficult places to do so as you are used to life thats quite different from being here. I can agree 100% with some of the posters of TA/FB. "if the idea of teaching in an inner city school doesnt suite your fancy, steer clear of here". And thats not to compare the two because nothing really compares to this place but there are some similarities (even if

Moroccanoil Soap

If youve read this blog for any length of time, Im sure youve gotten your laughs off my Moroccan bath experience. As crazy as that was for me, i believe I will be going to get one again, though at a much better establishment! Today, I ran across this product  And while waiting in line for a price, an Arabic lady gave it the once over, looked inside, and nodded her head in approval of what was inside. After seeing it was only 9.50 dhm, I got another. Once I try it, I will certainly give a review! In the meantime, here is information about the product-or products like this: Moroccan Black Soap and How To Use It The black soap is part of the traditional hammam ritual. It is the first treatment in oriental public bath. With a texture of butter, this natural vegetable paste based with black olives is rich in vitamin E. It is obtained from a mixture of oil and crushed olives, soaked in salt and potash. In the nineteenth century it was used as a product of Dermatology and later be

So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer. And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle. At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us!
