Just Like Old Times

Im feeling sick and didnt want to go in today. I lay in bed contemplating whether or not to just stay there. I decided against my body and went in. Good thing because my coteacher was out today. They would have been wondering what was going on if both of their teachers were absent!

We had a good day. Im used to having kids the full day so it wasnt a big deal even though there were no specials today. The room is big enough for them to work on something else while I prep for the next activity. My main goal today was getting the sensory bottles done and Im so glad they were excited about it because they were the one of the motivating forces for me getting out of bed today! They would have hurt my feelings if they were like, "I dont want to make that!". They worked so well today-putting various items in their bottles. It went better than Id expected with it being just me. Especially since there were only 2 kids absent. I hope they arent in the trash by now!

Im sure theyll be happy to see E tomorrow. I will be as well because the kids didnt get Arabic today,lol.

The Beginning of the End

Last week I turned the key and entered my home from a vacation for the last time. I realized that I will miss my apartment. Who wouldn't? We have an amazing place when you think about it. Even if I dont use all the amenities, it is nice to have and I enjoy looking out the window each and every day! Going home was a success. Taking things home will,no doubt, reduce the stress of packing in the coming months. A RT ticket for 365 was a steal to say the least. Worth such a quick turnaround! Now comes the last term. It will be over before we blink an eye as Ramadan comes earlier each year. We are trying our best to condense the learning outcomes and lessons so we impart upon their little brains the basics and pray they retain it over the summer! Ive been here so long Im not even concerned about selling all our things. Im sure some of them will sell but everything else will be donated. I dont have the propensity to concern myself with it. I only wish it was easier to find someone...

Turning Tides

6 months ago I wasn't to happy with my situation. I was feeling stifled in terms of teaching time and a host of other things and my main focus in life was to get OUT. I must say that the year has progressed rather nicely and Im not feeling the same way about the year. Thanks to my coteacher, who understands what the kids need and provides those things even when someone says otherwise,we are having a great year! I can't say that I would feel this way with another teacher. Our classroom runs smoothly and the kids are self sufficient. Today, two kids decided to make a book in the science center. The books were pre made with the title and had two pages for them to draw animals or write. They were provided with real pictures of animals to choose from and had been given instructions previously about their options (to draw animals they saw at the zoo, animals from the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, or to use the pictures if necessary). So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer.And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle.At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us! I love this contraption,lol and on the off times that this occurs. . . I just use my teacher dry erase marker,lmbo So,so glad to finally be clutter free! cleaning takes one day a week besides the every other day of sweeping bc its super dusty here.I have ONE pile of stuff left and thats only because I need a book shelf.Thats coming soon.
