Yay or Nay?

So I toyed with the idea of moving. Things like traffic, location, transportation, the irritation of moving, the joy of amenities, etc...all of these played a role in my thought process. The decision was made for me based on a couple things:budget of one of the places teachers were looking at, the fact that if you get a real estate agent, theres a big chance youll have to pay a 5000dh fee to him/her.In addition to that, I just dont want the headache.Im comfortable here,we have space,we are outside of traffic, and parking hasnt been a problem (but that can change quickly).

So today I went to look at this apt building that is HUGE. The good thing, though, is that you dont have to stay on a top floor AAAAAAND, they have balconies so if you had to, you could get out easily IF you are on a lower floor. yes, I think about these things

Sadly, I forgot my camera to take pics/video but may go back if we talk to the guy. There were only a couple things on the list of being here that we would miss and those would be forgotten with the addition of a laundry room with separate washer/dryer,open balcony, nice gym, rooftop pool with nice view, quiet building that is farther down from where I live now and closer to my job, underground parking. Um, why am I hesitating?

Well, We say we would miss our second bedroom but we have no kids and could manage without it. I sketched out the floorplan upon returning home and walked through my house to see what Id have to sell. All these things are not even a year old and with all the new teachers coming in, Im sure it wouldnt be a problem. But on the flip side, if/when we do have a kid, what then? On top of that, we have to turn in a paper before we leave stating whether we intend to stay here. If not, we have to start looking for a place. What if this place doesnt go through...can we say, "ok,we changed our mind and want to stay where we are." ? Thats an added stress I dont care to endure.

Having said that, I could most certainly go on to my next design ideas. Over the course of my lifetime Ive decorated my home in various color palettes and styles,ie African color paletter and West African art, brown and green color palette with repurposed items by yours truly, and now a minimalist look with purples, greys, blacks, and browns.

If/when we move again, it will be a color palette possibly like one of these:
the color palette,not the picture

only because my couch is grey and the place has brownish grey accents

Im really in love with the colors of Moroccan or Indian decor. Places like Pier 1 or World Market are my inspiration.Whats better is that those same types of pieces are here but a lot less expensive.Im still amazed when i see pieces for 300-1000 dollars that I know would be triple the price at home.

Anyway, enough day dreaming and window (computer) shopping for one evening.
We'll find out what we can and act accordingly and I pray that it will work out either way.

order it!

you have to make a decision about what is ok to buy here and what you should send for. For instance, if its something I should just learn to live without, I dont bother. If Im home visiting, I make a decision about whether I should bring it back. Like poultry seasoning (for a proper southern, savory dressing aka stuffing). I brought enough to last me until my next trip home. Other things, like shampoo or some hair products. I really couldnt bring enough to last as those things are heavy so I make do with what is here.Luckily, my kind of hair is resilient to the water so Im not having much problems aside from dryness which coconut water seems to be helping with. Anyway. One thing I made sure to bring enough of was bras. And I had so many that it wasnt necessary to get some last year. But now? Now its about the time to figure something out. And if youre a lady, you know when you need to throw that bra out, lol. Its definitely about that time. And, yes, I could look here but Im not on ...

This will do

So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer. And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle. At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us! I love this contraption, lol and on the off times that this occurs. . . I just use my teacher dry erase marker, lmbo So,so glad to finally be clutter free! cleaning takes one day a week besides the every other day of sweeping bc its super dusty here.I have ONE pile of stuff left and thats only because I need a book shelf.Thats coming soon.ļ»æ

Turning Tides

6 months ago I wasn't to happy with my situation. I was feeling stifled in terms of teaching time and a  host of other things and my main focus in life was to get OUT.  I must say that the year has progressed rather nicely and Im not feeling the same way about the year. Thanks to my coteacher, who understands what the kids need and provides those things even when someone says otherwise,we  are having a great year! I can't say that I would feel this way with another teacher. Our classroom runs smoothly and the kids are self sufficient. Today, two kids decided to make a book in the science center. The books were pre made with the title and had two pages for them to draw animals or write. They were provided with real pictures of animals to choose from and had been given instructions previously about their options (to draw animals they saw at the zoo, animals from the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, or to use the pictures if necessary). We also started this week putting ...
