Xi'an week 1

Im gonna go ahead and start out giving a shout out to the Dabs, lol. People who havent lived anywhere else outside of their home country and who have loads to say about the Dabs should maybe try living someplace else where your language isnt spoken. Unless you are a language learner, its quite difficult. Very few things are written in English.I cant take a cab or ride the bus as a visitor. They do have a train and I can take that and as long as I know exactly where Im going, its good.If I happen to get turned around, forget it.If you find someone who speaks English, you are extremely lucky! The other day it took an extended conversation to get an order of ice cream without strawberries.Actually, I wanted a cone-which was right beside the cups-but I couldnt get her to understand thats what I wanted so cup it was.

So far, Ive eaten at quite a few Chinese restaurants.1 Japanese restaurant, and a couple western places where I enjoyed having pork in my meal. Ive gone to the bell and drum towers, the Muslim quarter, and have even gone to a Latin club with a live band. The music was wonderful and I was pleasantly surprised by the dancing. They apparently have some good instructors here!I also went to a hostel to enjoy an American breakfast. That was nice and the hostel was cool.If staying in Xian, Id recommend it as a cool way to travel.

The people are cool. There arent many (and thats being generous) black people here and some of the kid's looks/reactions are funny/cute. A couple of them have spoken as they realize I speak English. They dont look as much as one might think.Nor do they point or talk as they do in AD.They could be saying something in Chinese, idk, but at least they are discreet, haha.

What else?Oh, they are taller than I thought. The women have nice legs, must be from all the walking, and they are all dressed like they are going on a date or something-too cute! Pets are a new thing and they carry around small, well groomed dogs. Grandparents take care of the children for the most part and you will see people outside doing things from playing games, doing exercises, or just talking at all times of the day.Driving is a mess. The traffic rules seem crazy and if you didnt know any better, you would think all sides have the green light at the same time.Just because your cross walk light is on doesnt mean cars arent coming from you at multiple directions! And weather-it.is.HUMID! Like low country, Savannah/Charleston humid.Made me miss AD heat when I first arrived. Its extreme when MY curls fall!

Anyway, thats week one in a nutshell.I kind of suck because I didnt write about Nepal.Maybe Ill back track. Its not too late

should I? shouldnt I? THAT is the question... horror stories, complaints, regrets in opposition with people who speak as if they have no plans on returning to the previous dwelling place. What to believe? Are the kids hellians or little angels? Is the classroom fully stocked or bare? Will you have admin support, admin indifference,or admin from Hades? Sadly, noone can answer this question and not because of "a lack of freedom of speech". Its because everything-in every country-is subjective. And because if one is going to pack up and live in another country for a couple years, this would be one of the more difficult places to do so as you are used to life thats quite different from being here. I can agree 100% with some of the posters of TA/FB. "if the idea of teaching in an inner city school doesnt suite your fancy, steer clear of here". And thats not to compare the two because nothing really compares to this place but there are some similarities (even if

Moroccanoil Soap

If youve read this blog for any length of time, Im sure youve gotten your laughs off my Moroccan bath experience. As crazy as that was for me, i believe I will be going to get one again, though at a much better establishment! Today, I ran across this product  And while waiting in line for a price, an Arabic lady gave it the once over, looked inside, and nodded her head in approval of what was inside. After seeing it was only 9.50 dhm, I got another. Once I try it, I will certainly give a review! In the meantime, here is information about the product-or products like this: Moroccan Black Soap and How To Use It The black soap is part of the traditional hammam ritual. It is the first treatment in oriental public bath. With a texture of butter, this natural vegetable paste based with black olives is rich in vitamin E. It is obtained from a mixture of oil and crushed olives, soaked in salt and potash. In the nineteenth century it was used as a product of Dermatology and later be

This will do

So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer. And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle. At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us!
