Paradise?

So Ive been thinking about a move to Reem Island . Not because I have a bad place (I dont) or because Im in a bad location (Im not),but because we plan on being here long term and this place has much more of a home feel as there are so many amenities there. The only drawback is the the location, which is also nice as far as I know right now. Only thing is its too close to Tourist Club and thats not a place I care for too much. And if the link above doesnt convince someone maybe the future plans will!

We have all that we would need to stay there pretty much and this place has...drumroooooooollllll-CLOSETS! Once of them even a walk in. It may sound like it but I dont have my hopes up and Im not even excited about it at this point. Im just looking at my options. This would be the one and only time youd catch me living on an island.

My only requirement? That I live on a bottom lower level floor. Should be an easy enough request as most people want to be higher up.Not us.Definitely not us!

  1. tough question. the first thing i did was check to see if it was a natural island or a man made one! and the first floor? what if there is a flood? then you would want to be on a higher level! guess you cant always live by the "what if's". if the budget says, "yes," do it.

  2. Bottom floor...might want to rethink that. I was on bottom floor...traffic central! Not only do you hear all traffic going to elevator, but you also hear custodians cleaning, mopping, trash cans slamming against building at 6am. Most buildings here have a trash system that require a huge metal drum on the ground floor. Guess you hears that daily?

Oh...and the neighbor's on top of you...if they have little kids...forget it! Game over!! I had a family of five with three little ones under three. NIGHTMARE.

All buildings are different, but the ones with many floors were a disaster in AD and AA.

Just my experience...I got outta there fast and now live in a 2-story building on top floor.

  3. Ive always preferred lower level floors. Not bottom per se but I want to be able to get out when/if I need to.Id get to sleep faster hearing kids than worrying about if I was going to be stuck in the top/middle of a 60 floor building (that also sways) (*_*).
funny how we all can or cant take different things, lol.

It's That Time Again

Transfer time. I requested a transfer AND interviewed in a neighboring county. I even had an in (maybe) with a Teacher of the Year at a pretty good school that was about 15 mins from my house and brand new. I was hopeful but never too excited. May 5th is the last day to hear back and my district doesn't prioritize updating parts of their webpage so no job updates. Meanwhile, I know where I stand with the other county because they update their job posts as jobs are filled. Yet another reason their county is better than ours. But I digress... I was never an optimistic person so from the jump, I figured my teammates would get transferred even though I was ready to get out as soon as I got there. It looks like we will all be there so I'm not getting any kind of shakeup. I began to wonder what God has planned for me. Why can't I get out? My resume shows my experience and work ethic and I have great references. This place has taken me places even moving across the world to te...

Turning Tides

6 months ago I wasn't to happy with my situation. I was feeling stifled in terms of teaching time and a  host of other things and my main focus in life was to get OUT.  I must say that the year has progressed rather nicely and Im not feeling the same way about the year. Thanks to my coteacher, who understands what the kids need and provides those things even when someone says otherwise,we  are having a great year! I can't say that I would feel this way with another teacher. Our classroom runs smoothly and the kids are self sufficient. Today, two kids decided to make a book in the science center. The books were pre made with the title and had two pages for them to draw animals or write. They were provided with real pictures of animals to choose from and had been given instructions previously about their options (to draw animals they saw at the zoo, animals from the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, or to use the pictures if necessary). We also started this week putting ...

Moving on Up!!

So I was too tired to write about the adventure I had in trying to find our apartment. As there are no street addresses here people give ONLY landmarks and tell you which lights to go through,to,past and which to turn at. Even though Im not one to remember streed signs it can be quite confusing and I now know that having the street signs helps a bit. Whenever I do decide to get a car, I will definitely get a GPS. Im surprised that the keys didnt burn a hole in my pocket last night and I slept rather well. It helped that the night before I only got a few hours of sleep. Ok, so After school today, which was the first day,I couldnt wait to get hold of Rachel after Id gotten directions again. We were most pleasantly surrpised to find it. We knew we'd passed and/or seen it as we searched yesterday and it was (as he said) green, lol. If I could come up with a gripe, it would be that the rooms are a little small and have no wardrobes BUT that isnt an issue at all for me. I am most pl...
