Today was good. And when I think about it,yesterday was good too! So lets start with yesterday. I was alone with the kids and they listened pretty well. At the end of the day I told them that theyd have to finish their work (handwriting) and then they could have fun writing in shaving cream. I knew there was a chance it would go wild but it didnt and was a huge success. They LOVED it and I was very proud of their work ethic.Sometimes they sit there and concentrate so well to finish the work when there seems to be chaos around them and they bring me their work so proud of what theyve finished. Those times are the best.
Today we had science and math with free choice mixed in.They day ended with water all over the floor but it wasgood, great! After talking about air and 2d/3d shapes we split up to work in groups. Her table was bubbles, which were much bigger than I thought,lol.We used the abundance of soap powder they gave us and straws in cups to make bubbles and then they drew a picture of what they observed. They also (independently) had the choice of making shapes with dry noodles and glue. My table was the 3d shapes made with toothpicks and marshmallows that Ive been looking for for awhile now.I told them it WAS NOT candy like they thought and stressed that they should not go in their mouths because that was nasty,lol.IT WORKED! and when one put it in his mouth he took it back out and said yuck,lol.I have most of the marshmallows we started out with,lol.
I am being taped on sunday and the kg1 teacher asked what we will do.Nothing too elaborate...pretty much what we always do. I bring a book and some centers and they go to work. These kids are just recently 4 years old and I have them for 45 mins.Probably the best 45 mins of their day! Im so glad they are getting their own teachers next year.I really hope we get our materials as needed. Regardless,I already have a list of things Ill be bringing back with me.
But not to get too ahead of myself.Maybe I should start with finishing my LPs for next week!
