But not intentionally. . .

Im in the apartment and have yet to get internet. It should be coming soon and the "internet cafe's" internet is down so that leaves me to do lots of other things besides getting stuck on the computer. I do enjoy blogging about the experience and there are probably many things Ive forgotten that I really did want to write about.
yes, Amy,its just like kids say goodbye.family, I miss you guys too. . .but I dont miss the States (yet),lol.

So many people do . . .some enjoy this place but miss home and other probably wish theyd never come. Or at least thats the impression they give. IDK, I dont get into that. I just smile to myself when people talk about the differences. Like the water here is desalinated. okayyyyy. . .it comes from the sea. Some places it tastes normal and in other places it does not. For example, in my apartment its horrible so I have a water machine thingy (high tech language,I know, lol) and I have bottles delivered with a phone call. Wonderful, lol. But people here will turn up their noses when talking about the drinking water process as if ours is better because its not ocean water. Im sure they wouldnt drink our water once they find out it all goes to the same place to be "cleaned" of poop, pee, and everything else we wash down the drain or flush down the toilet!!!

Or the fact that they are "slow" when we are so busy that we dont care about how anyone else is doing and its all about the bottom dollar when many of us dont even have a bottom dollar. Their priorities are not our own (in many cases) but does that make them inferior? I could write an article about our country that would make some people not want to visit...afraid to visit even. Its all in how you look at it.
And speaking of which, the cab driver told me yesterday that I came from Heaven (America) and now I am in Hell (Abu Dhabi) and he couldnt understand why I like it here. Hes been here for 5 years. He also hates marriage after having been married once, lol. To each his own, lol.

We had a nice dinner the week of Thanksgiving. I cooked a couple dishes and some were brought. I am in love with Taboulah, which is a salad, and I think I could eat it once a day for a month before getting tired of it. I live close to a couple nice restaurants. One of which the owners are so nice and gave me my first meal on the house. it was spicy and filled with yummy goodness. If you are close to Muroor and 15th, eat at Yahooli's and get the beans with cheese on top. Also the dip that comes with every meal is SPICY and yum.

Ummm...Im so so soooo tired of going to the malls but I STILL have to go again as Ive not gotten something that I need. For those who are wondering how my feet are holding up-its GREAT and Im so happy that I had the procedure. Otherwise, I would have been miserable.
All in all, Im grateful for this opportunity and I feel blessed on a regular basis. Everything is not for everyone but this has been a fun and + change for me.

order it!

you have to make a decision about what is ok to buy here and what you should send for. For instance, if its something I should just learn to live without, I dont bother. If Im home visiting, I make a decision about whether I should bring it back. Like poultry seasoning (for a proper southern, savory dressing aka stuffing). I brought enough to last me until my next trip home. Other things, like shampoo or some hair products. I really couldnt bring enough to last as those things are heavy so I make do with what is here.Luckily, my kind of hair is resilient to the water so Im not having much problems aside from dryness which coconut water seems to be helping with. Anyway. One thing I made sure to bring enough of was bras. And I had so many that it wasnt necessary to get some last year. But now? Now its about the time to figure something out. And if youre a lady, you know when you need to throw that bra out, lol. Its definitely about that time. And, yes, I could look here but Im not on ...

This will do

So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer. And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle. At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us! I love this contraption, lol and on the off times that this occurs. . . I just use my teacher dry erase marker, lmbo So,so glad to finally be clutter free! cleaning takes one day a week besides the every other day of sweeping bc its super dusty here.I have ONE pile of stuff left and thats only because I need a book shelf.Thats coming soon.ļ»æ

Turning Tides

6 months ago I wasn't to happy with my situation. I was feeling stifled in terms of teaching time and a  host of other things and my main focus in life was to get OUT.  I must say that the year has progressed rather nicely and Im not feeling the same way about the year. Thanks to my coteacher, who understands what the kids need and provides those things even when someone says otherwise,we  are having a great year! I can't say that I would feel this way with another teacher. Our classroom runs smoothly and the kids are self sufficient. Today, two kids decided to make a book in the science center. The books were pre made with the title and had two pages for them to draw animals or write. They were provided with real pictures of animals to choose from and had been given instructions previously about their options (to draw animals they saw at the zoo, animals from the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, or to use the pictures if necessary). We also started this week putting ...
