what is this?

Im at home and have been ever since I came from my apartment today. I went to check room sizes after having looked at the same couches on multiple occasions. Im so tired and have been today while en route to school as well as on the way home. Its the Eid holiday but its not a big deal to me as for the people who have been here and who need a break. I HAVENT STARTED REALLY WORKING YET! lol

Today I felt rather ignorant. And though Im not anymore, I wonder if we were offensive to anyone who may have seen us. . .okay, so there was a lamb tied to a tree outside the school and all we heard was "baaa baaaaa". We didnt know if it were tied to the tree or where it came from. We were taping it with our technology and one (funny) teacher was "communicating" with it. Just think of the movie Finding Nemo where she was speaking "whale". It was too funny to hear the lamb/sheep respond!

After a short while of wondering whether it would charge us or wondering where it came from someone asked the security guard if he knew where it was from. . .the teacher was asking if it were tied up and tried to motion this question. His response was yes (technically) but his motion didnt look to me to be "tied up" at all. Then I remembered what theyd said the previous day about slaughtering a lamb for Eid. I dont know much about Eid and Ill probably read about it because I DO live here. Anyway, I wondered what his perception of us laughing and looking at the lamb/sheep was. Were we disrespectful? He doesnt understand English nor did he have a frown or any look of disapproval. Im not even sure he saw us. I do want to be cognizant of and sensitive to the culture . . .the important part is that one not remain ignorant.

And speaking of. . .I am picking up Arabic words and phrases. The kids follow directions when given by someone who speaks their language and that makes sense. When I say the little words I do know they respond (most of them) and we have no type of relationship at this point. That and all kids know what a look of disapproval is. Now, how often they get it is really up for debate!!!

Other than that, Ill be getting my bed Monday, appliances this weekend if I order them tomorrow which I plan on doing. getting cleaning supplies Fri morn so that we can clean saturday morn. Tomorrow Im going to look at a place for furniture just to see what they have. . .I think my initial plans are not going to happen and it started with not getting the bed I wanted originally, lol. That part is cool. I found that I CAN paint and the manlord (I just like saying that) is going to bring me samples and a brochure Saturday.
Did I mention how service oriented this place is???

There are so many stores in back roads. . .you could really miss out if you miss a turn on a good little store. For this reason, I would love to have a bike just to hit up the back roads and get to places easier. Its no more dangerous that walking to cross the street-at least where I live which isnt tourist club.Maybe if I could walk normally it wouldnt be a big deal.

Beginning to put my stamp on my room. DANG!!! I need baskets for work and was supposed to go get them today. grrrrr. Its not too late.
What to do.What to do?!

should I? shouldnt I? THAT is the question... horror stories, complaints, regrets in opposition with people who speak as if they have no plans on returning to the previous dwelling place. What to believe? Are the kids hellians or little angels? Is the classroom fully stocked or bare? Will you have admin support, admin indifference,or admin from Hades? Sadly, noone can answer this question and not because of "a lack of freedom of speech". Its because everything-in every country-is subjective. And because if one is going to pack up and live in another country for a couple years, this would be one of the more difficult places to do so as you are used to life thats quite different from being here. I can agree 100% with some of the posters of TA/FB. "if the idea of teaching in an inner city school doesnt suite your fancy, steer clear of here". And thats not to compare the two because nothing really compares to this place but there are some similarities (even if

Moroccanoil Soap

If youve read this blog for any length of time, Im sure youve gotten your laughs off my Moroccan bath experience. As crazy as that was for me, i believe I will be going to get one again, though at a much better establishment! Today, I ran across this product  And while waiting in line for a price, an Arabic lady gave it the once over, looked inside, and nodded her head in approval of what was inside. After seeing it was only 9.50 dhm, I got another. Once I try it, I will certainly give a review! In the meantime, here is information about the product-or products like this: Moroccan Black Soap and How To Use It The black soap is part of the traditional hammam ritual. It is the first treatment in oriental public bath. With a texture of butter, this natural vegetable paste based with black olives is rich in vitamin E. It is obtained from a mixture of oil and crushed olives, soaked in salt and potash. In the nineteenth century it was used as a product of Dermatology and later be

This will do

So I just havent made it around to making a video of the place.Part of that is because my phone, which had the great camera on it,is no longer. And leave it to me to buy a cute phone with a horrible camera.yes, I have a camera with video but its just too much hassle. At least I think so. And because Im supposed to be honing my craft, I decided to post my place in pictures. Enjoy. My color palette all these switches for one little bathroom no tv. . .yet just the two of us!
